Dragon Eye Tutorial by NakaseArt Dragon Eye Tutorial by NakaseArt
This is a tutorial I whipped up real quick for a friend. They told me they were having some problems with portraying the emotions without using human eyes for them in dragons.

As I state on the image, please only use for educational purposes. You can print this out for yourself and/or friends, link to etc. Please respect my copyright and do not alter this image nor post it as your own. You'll ruin it for everyone if you do, as I will remove my tutorial.

A 2010 tutorial that is still helpful on 2013. Good job, it was really helpful. Do you have any references or suggestions for getting different expressions from the eye?

(fav.me/d6wjklh my first real attempt at an eye, not too shabby thanks to this tutorial:))

Some people do it as that you cannot see anything but the eyeball, no black or red in the sides, others do it so you can see the black part, a bit like a wolf. What do you recommend?

I recommend using all of them. For different pictures and designs, you can change the features. This will help you keep your mind designing, and grow your portfolio.

Working on an all dragon comic, so i found it difficult to portray motions, but this will help and with some pointers for others, i may get it, although a bit cartooney with the teeth... any suggestion on mouth expressions?
